Course Description

Internet Measurement introduces the fundamental concepts, methodologies, and tools used in Internet measurement and monitoring. Students explore the motivation for measuring the Internet, the relationship between Internet architecture and measurement techniques, and the analytical foundations required to interpret measurement data. The course covers practical aspects of collecting and analyzing network measurements, including where measurements can be performed across networks, hosts, and cloud environments. Students also gain hands-on experience with Internet measurement tools, network and host monitoring techniques, cloud monitoring, and large-scale Internet measurement projects, preparing them to evaluate and improve the performance, reliability, and security of modern Internet systems.
